Contracts Manager - Closing Date 7th July 2010
Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium (SUPC) is the largest UK higher education purchasing consortium. It has over one hundred member institutions including some of the most prestigious universities in the country. As higher education funding is under pressure collaborative procurement is becoming even more important. This is an exciting time to join SUPC as we are in the process of implementing a category management approach as part of our strategic plan.
In this role you will be responsible for developing purchasing strategies, developing and managing tender processes, as well as managing multi million pound framework agreements. You will have the opportunity to manage your own workload and creatively use your skills to deliver best value agreements to SUPC members. Although the position is based in Reading there will be some UK travel.
You should be CIPS qualified, or in the final stages of qualification, have experience of developing tenders and purchasing strategies, excellent communication skills, experience of managing large contracts, be customer focused and have at least two years experience in developing contracts and purchasing research. You should also be able to manage your own workload and have a creative and enthusiastic approach to complement your professional skills.
Salary is between £33,000 and £40,000 per annum, subject to skills and experience, and benefits include 30 days holiday per year, a final salary pension, and a good working environment.
