SUPC is hosting our second annual FREE member conference in partnership with LUPC on 24 May 2017 in London.  Once again, SUPC will be partnering with the London Universities Purchasing Consortium (LUPC) to bring members a broad range of sessions addressing the latest concerns in HE procurement.  Sessions will be supported by a diverse exhibition of 60 suppliers covering a range of consortia agreements.

This year’s venue will be the prestigious County Hall, a landmark building on London’s South Bank with stunning views overlooking the iconic London Eye, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament and River Thames. Recently completely refurbished, the venue in one of the best connected locations in central London and (for those that were a little cramped by our great turnout in 2016!) should offer plenty of space for presentations, exhibition and networking.

The day will be brought to a close with a drinks reception, kindly sponsored by:

What Will Brexit Mean for Procurement?

Will Brexit be the biggest political, social and economic event of our lifetimes, or will it prove to be not such a big deal - might we look back and wonder what all the fuss was about? We don't know, but in this session, Peter will talk about some of the specific issues around public procurement in particular – EU versus UK regulations, trade issues and so on. But he will also touch on some of the more philosophical questions around Brexit, which will in time influence everyone and everything we do, not just procurement. Will the UK become a great global, trading nation again? Or an inwardly looking, protectionist country, obsessed with "buying British" - or maybe even "buying local". So might the pressure on universities be to spend their money in a very local area, for instance?
