SUPC lets and manages framework agreements on behalf of its member universities. SUPC is one of six HE regional purchasing consortia in the UK. Some of our agreements are tendered exclusively for SUPC members but we also collaborate with the other regional purchasing consortia to share the tendering workload and this means that sometimes an agreement will be awarded by one consortium but will be available for other consortia to use.
The vast majority of our agreements are let following a competitive tendering exercise undertaken in accordance with EU Procurement Directives. At the start of the tender process notification is placed in the OJEU (Official Journal of the European Union). This is a daily electronic publication and can be viewed at http://ted.europa.eu. Each notice is coded according to the commodity being tendered and some organisations provide a bespoke alerting service to notify suppliers of contract opportunities falling within the commodity areas that are of specific interest to them. Details of forthcoming and current tenders are also available on the SUPC’s electronic tendering website, In-Tend. All our tenders are now conducted electronically through In-Tend.
Our website lists the agreements that we currently have in place and when they are due to expire. Re-tendering normally starts 9 to 12 months prior to the start of an agreement so if you are interested in tendering for a particular agreement it is wise to look out for the OJEU notice during this period.
Please note that SUPC does not maintain a list of approved, preferred, recommended or registered suppliers. All the suppliers on the List of SUPC Agreements have undergone a formal tender process as described above. Companies may only register on In-Tend for a specific tender. Regular monitoring of the OJEU and the SUPC website is therefore recommended if you wish to become an SUPC supplier.
