SUPC Awards One of the Largest Value Global Book Agreements for HE Sector

SUPC, with its English and Welsh Higher Education (HE) consortia partners, has recently awarded a national agreement for Books, eBooks, Standing Orders and Related Materials.  The agreement, which will run from 1 August 2017 – 31 July 2019, is one of the largest value global book agreements, worth up to £90 million per year, and offers members access to a range of products via the following lots:

Lot 1: English language print books for library stock

Lot 2: Mainland European language books

Lot 3: Standing orders

Lot 4: ebooks for library access

Lot 5: etextbooks

Lot 6: English language books for institution department purchase (non-library)

Lot 7: Staff and student sales

This new agreement delivers further savings to the HE sector, encourages suppliers to deliver the ebook requirements of institutions, and brings together all the ebook suppliers onto a standard ebook license.

The agreement has been awarded to 13 suppliers across the lots, and includes both new and well-established market leaders:

Askew & Holts Library Services
Bibliotech Education
Blackwell Limited
Browns Books for Students
Casalini Libri SpA
Dawson Books Ltd
EBSCO GmbH
EBSCO International Inc
John Smith & Son Group
Kortext
Otto Harrassowitz GmbH & Co

Sustainability is also an important part of this agreement with all suppliers assessed on sustainability practices and most offering re-use, recycling and disposal schemes.
