We are delighted to announce that Sarah Strutton has joined SUMS Group as our new Head of Finance.
Sarah brings extensive financial leadership experience across education, healthcare, financial services, and manufacturing. She has held senior finance roles at organisations including Avantia Group, London United Busways, Nuffield Health, and Priory Group, where she led strategic financial planning, process improvements, and business expansion. As former Finance Director at The Tiffin Girls’ School, Sarah also managed IT, procurement, contracts, and major capital projects, including assessing the feasibility of joining or forming a Multi Academy Trust.
Her experience in business growth and transformation includes reviewing hospital site acquisitions, modelling new developments, and integrating new sites into operations. Sarah has supported tendering for NHS and insurer contracts, pricing strategy, and financial forecasting in a private equity-backed environment. At London United Busways, she played a key role in aligning finance processes across three acquired companies.
Sarah is passionate about professionalising finance functions and has successfully transitioned finance teams from outdated manual processes to automation, improving controls, efficiency, and reporting accuracy. In her most recent role as Finance Director at Merronbrook Ltd., she introduced automated invoice processing, system interfaces, and enhanced reporting tools to free up time for commercial decision-making.
Sarah’s expertise in finance transformation, business expansion, and operational efficiency will be invaluable as we continue strengthening our financial strategy to better support the higher education sector.
