SUPC’s mission is to help universities buy smarter, acting as your partner to deliver a comprehensive set of high-quality procurement services that add tangible value. We work with our awarded suppliers to ensure SUPC frameworks are fit-for-purpose and deliver the greatest benefits to you, our members.
The higher education procurement sector will be familiar with price increases and supply chain issues for most product portfolios. Laboratory Gases, especially Helium and Dry Ice, have been no exception.
Following discussions with framework suppliers around the annual pricing review process, SUPC is pleased to confirm new pricing has been agreed with implementation from 1 February 2025. We’re delighted to draw members’ attention to where we’ve been able to maintain price stability, but more importantly, to price reductions for certain popular products within the framework.
As a result of our ongoing discussions, we’ve been able to secure price reductions across both Helium at -2.5% (total reduction impact of £105k) and Bulk Liquid Nitrogen at -20% (total reduction impact of £1.1million) whilst there will be a price freeze on Dry Ice (total impact of £142k). This is especially encouraging given the supply chain issues across both Helium and Dry Ice that members will recall across the life of the framework.

Having seen continual price increases for most product portfolios across frameworks, this is a welcome change and is a testament to the strong relationship between SUPC, our suppliers and the wider sector.
The new pricing file will be uploaded to the Hunter Buyer’s Portal in the coming days and will sit alongside the current pricing until these are archived towards the end of this month. Please share this communication on to end-users within your institutions so they have visibility of the changing prices.
