We’re pleased to announce that SUPC has updated its name to the Southern Universities Procurement Consortium (formerly Purchasing).
This change is a simple but important one. It better reflects the full scope of the work we do to support members across the procurement cycle – from responsible sourcing and supplier relationships to risk management, value for money, and contract compliance.
Why “Procurement”?
Procurement is more than purchasing. While purchasing focuses on transactions, procurement is strategic, long-term, and value-driven. Our new name recognises the vital role that procurement teams play across our membership – and the broad range of expertise SUPC provides to support them.
What this means for our members:
- A name that better reflects our work and impact
- Continued support from the same trusted team
- No change to our services or frameworks
- “Southern Universities Procurement Consortium” will now appear as our official Contracting Authority name
- We’ll continue to use SUPC in shortform
